Green Living (June 2011)

Just in time for yet another excruciating Texas summer, Jay West will teach us how greening your living space can help you feel self righteous AND save you money at the same time. How can you actually reduce your utility bills? Where should you spend money and where should you save it?

Topics will include simple fixes like weather stripping, as well as a tour of his huge rain water collection system. (And if you think you're leaving without seeing the spotted tree frogs living in his handmade water feature AT LEAST once, you are sorely mistaken.)

Since the house is about a 45-minute drive from Austin, we're making this a WYFK summer event. So bring something to throw on the grill, beers to share, maybe even a musical instrument, and stick around awhile. We like to mix a little fun in with our learnin'. Please RSVP in the comments, and feel free to invite anyone you like. There will be plenty of room and lots to discuss.

Topic: Green Living (on a budget)
When: Saturday June 25th, noon til the beer runs out
Where: Jay and Lynne's house, 3873 McCall Creek Rd, Blanco, Texas (directions to come)

  1. Editorial note: Actually they are carnivorous leopard frogs (but unless you are really, really small they are not very dangerous) not tree frogs (which reside in trees, not eat them... in case you were wondering).

  2. We're in! I adore their house and will take every opportunity to go out there and secretly copy their floor plan and green ideas!
